Born in Indiana, James Dean had a short but fantastic acting career after giving up on law school. He acted in three films which have immortalised him. Giant, East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause. He brought an edge to acting in film which had never been experienced by America before.
Did you know: In Rebel without a Cause, they had initially shot some of the film in black and white. Dean's jacket was black then. When they decided to go colour, Dean ditched his black jacket for a red one. The look - red jacket, white shirts and jeans, came to represent American teenage style for at least a decade.
